What is the
element in HTML?

The
tag stands for description list. It is used to create a list of items where each item has a term (
tag) and a description (
tag).

The
tag is used to mention a term, and the
tag is used to write the description of that term.

Syntax

Term 1

Description for Term 1

Term 2

Description for Term 2

In the above snippet of code,
is used to create a list. The
and
tags are used to name the terms and describe them, respectively.

Note that the
and
tags are within the body of
tag.

Example

The following example shows how to use
in HTML:

A list of programming languages and their uses are created using the
tag. The name of each language is defined in a
tag, and its use is defined in the
tag.
